Experiment One: Sample

Dear President Biden,

My name is Evan Stern, and I am currently a student at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. To begin, I would like to offer my congratulations on your election as the president of the United States. I wish you and your administration the best of luck in the four years ahead.

I am writing today to express my deep concerns about the enlarging U.S. national debt. At the beginning of the current century, our total debt was less than $6 trillion. But today, that number has exploded by almost 400% to $27.9 trillion. In the previous administration alone, the national debt deepened by $7 trillion, and experts predict the trend is likely to worsen if decisive action isn’t taken immediately. The total national debt has climbed to such unprecedented levels that it now equals 136% of total GDP, almost double the 77% threshold for concern set by the World Bank. Without a reversal in the current course, it is plausible our nation will find itself in dire economic straits.
